The Romanian soprano Catalina Chelaru was born to Iassy, Romania on 11 January 1976.She studied music education at Vasile Lupu College from Iassy and to State George Enescu University of Arts from Iassy, between 1995-2001 with Adriana Severin (first years of study) and she graduated at Ada Burlui's canto class, to the same university.

In 2001 she graduated masterclass Bach with Andreas Weller, from Stutgard, Germany to Moldova Phylarmonic from Iassy, and she participated to summercourses of canto with Ludovic Spiess at Theatre from Piatra Neamt, Romania in 2005.

In 2001 she received Diploma of Excellency from Nicolae Milescu Spataru Library from Vaslui, Romania.

Between 2002 and 2003 she graduated mastercourses to State University of Arts from Iassy and since 2004 she follows master's degree having as teacher guide by Viorel Munteanu, romanian composer and teacher, rector of State University of Arts to Iassy.

Since 2001 is teacher assistant to George Enescu University of Arts, Musical Interpretation Faculty, Canto section, to Ada Burlui's canto class.

In 2003 she recorded her first CD with classic carols, entitled Noaptea nasterii lui Hristos, and in 2005 she published her first book as a teacher - An exceptional musical instrument, human voice.

She sang in many concerts and recitals to National Opera from Iassy, Moldova Philarmonic from Iassy and other towns from Romania (Bacau, Vaslui, Botosani, Piatra Neamt).

Like fashion designer, she started with first collection in 2005 Papillon-Papion a combination between motifs of butterfly and bow ties, with a special chromatic harmony and lines.
